Christians worldwide turn to Russia for protection

At no time in history has the persecution of Christians been as intense and widespread as it is now.

Christians in the Middle East are in dire need of a champion, which, in today’s world can only be a great power, and it is Russia that has taken on that responsibility.

Russia and India support Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity — joint statement

Russian President Vladimir Putin has pointed to the proximity of positions Moscow and New Delhi take on acute international issues

MOSCOW, December 24 /TASS/.

Russia and India have voiced staunch support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a joint statement after talks in Moscow.

The sides agreed that the internal armed conflict in Syria cannot be resolved by force and can be settled only by political and diplomatic means - through substantive intra-Syrian dialogue without any preliminary conditions or external interference and on the basis of the Geneva Communique of June 30, 2012; the Joint Statement on results of multilateral talks on Syria in Vienna of October 30, 2015 and a statement of the International Syria Support Group adopted on November 14, 2015, the document said.

Russia and India voiced resolute and decisive support for the people and government of Iraq in their efforts to overcome the current crisis and defend the country’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Russian and Indian leaders said in their joint statement stressing the importance of reaching national reconciliation and unity in Iraq by forming an inclusive state system and strengthening national democratic institutions by creation of relevant opportunities.

"It is important Russia and India make similar approaches to key international problems. Our countries are for a political settlement of the conflict in Syria and promotion of national reconciliation in Afghanistan," Putin told the media after talks with India’s visiting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "We are certain that it is in the interests of the world community to form a wide anti-terrorist coalition operating on the basis of international law and under the auspices of the United Nations," Putin said.

The Russian leader said that Moscow would like to see India’s still greater role in addressing global and regional issues. "We believe that India is a great power that conducts a balanced and responsible foreign policy and is one of the most worthy candidates for taking the seat of a permanent member on the UN Security Council," Putin said.

He recalled that Moscow had "strongly supported India’s accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and that the two countries were actively cooperating within the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), where India will take the rotating presidency in February 2016.

Amnesty Publishes a Biased Report about Russia's Campaign in Syria

Report makes wild allegations of war crimes without substantiating evidence.
As Amnesty says, its report was researched “remotely”.
----
Amnesty International has just released a report accusing the Russian authorities of “shamefully concealing” large numbers of civilian deaths caused by Russian air strikes in Syria.
The report also says the Russians might be committing war crimes in Syria.
The Russians have responded to the report by saying it is littered with cliches.

Why the West Can Never Defeat or “Forgive” Russia

Historically and intuitively, Russia has fought for the survival of humanity. Of course, things are not always pronounced or defined in such terms. However, already on several occasions, this enormous country has stood up against the most mighty and evil forces that have threatened the very survival of our Planet.

During the Second World War, the Soviet people, mainly Russians, sacrificed at least 25 million men, women and children, in the end defeating Nazism. No other country in modern history has undergone more.

Military to Military US Intelligence Sharing in the Syrian War

By Seymour M. Hersh

December 21, 2015 "Information Clearing House" - "LRB" - Barack Obama’s repeated insistence that Bashar al-Assad must leave office – and that there are ‘moderate’ rebel groups in Syria capable of defeating him – has in recent years provoked quiet dissent, and even overt opposition, among some of the most senior officers on the Pentagon’s Joint Staff. Their criticism has focused on what they see as the administration’s fixation on Assad’s primary ally, Vladimir Putin. In their view, Obama is captive to Cold War thinking about Russia and China, and hasn’t adjusted his stance on Syria to the fact both countries share Washington’s anxiety about the spread of terrorism in and beyond Syria; like Washington, they believe that Islamic State must be stopped.

Putin and Israel – a Complex and Multi-layered Relationship

By The Saker
December 24, 2015 "Information Clearing House" - "The Saker" - The recent murder of Samir Kuntar by Israel has, yet again, inflamed the discussion about Putin’s relation to Israel.
This is an immensely complicated topic and those who like simple, canned, “explanations” should stop reading right now.  The truth is, the relationship between Russia and Israel and, even before that, between Jews and Russians would deserve an entire book.
In fact, Alexander Solzhenitsyn has written exactly such a book, it is entitled “200 years together”, but due to the iron grip of the Zionists on the Anglo media, it has still not been translated into English. That should already tell you something right there

Moscow pledges help to Syrian Kurds, but through Assad government

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday that Moscow is ready to back Kurdish forces fighting ISIS in Syria, but only in coordination with the Syrian government, Turkey’s official Anadolu Agency reported.

Demirtas' visit to Moscow comes amid soured relations between Turkey and Russia over the downing of a Russian jet last month.

ISIS ON THE RUN, RUSSIA-SYRIA CLEAR PALMYRA, HOMS, SET TO STORM RAQQA SOON

SEEMA MUSTAFA. Wednesday, December 9, 2015

NEW DELHI: The Russians are set to finish Daesh “in less than a year” with a major war driving the terrorists out of the safe havens they had occupied in Syria.

The Syrian Army is just three days away from controlling Aleppo, and has already cleared large parts of Palmyra, and cleared Homs altogether of Daesh elements, according to Syrian Ambassador to India Riad Abbas. The Russian air power has cleared the path for the Syrians to take control of their country again, with the troops on the ground making steady progress as a result.

Ambassador Abbas who for the first time in the past three years sounded very optimistic told The Citizen, “finally the war is actually against Daesh. The Russians are driving it, as till now everyone but these militants were being killed.”

Supporting terrorists, Turkey shoots down Russian plane

by crescent-online

November, 2015

Turkey's shooting down of a Russian plane over Syria has dangerously escalated tensions in an already volatile region. Fearing its consequences, Turkey has also requested a meeting of Nato ambassadors. This exposes Nato and its allies' support for the terrorists in Syria. No amount of rhetoric can camouflage this fact.

Russia Warns: 4 terrorists brought by Lt Gen Ron Lewis into US

RUSSIA WARNS AMERICA FACING THANKSGIVING 'BLOODBATH' NEXT WEEK

Nov. 18, 2015

A grim Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) report circulating in the Kremlin today warns that the United States is facing a “potential bloodbath” during next weeks Thanksgiving Holiday period at the hands of Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/Daesh) terrorists—the leaders of whom are now being actively searched for after they were secreted into America by a top US Army General fired by President Obama just hours before the Friday the 13th Paris Massacre.
According to SVR intelligence analysts, and as we reported on in our report titled Only Jews Were Saved After France Ignores Russia-Israel Warning Of Paris Massacre, the Federation issued a 12 November warning bulletin to the French General Directorate for External Security (DGSE) that a terror attack was about to take place—a warning that was, shamefully, ignored.

World govts secretly trade with Islamic State - terror financing expert

Have people seen the Sophie Shevardnardze interview with Christine Duhaime?

https://www.rt.com/shows/sophieco/270322-islamic-state-terror-financing/
Duhaime tends to classify ISIS as mostly a criminal enterprise that extends its assets to grabbing territory from which it then extracts product and sells this, and also use of kindnapping for ransom as an important source of income, as well as human trafficking.   Makes it sound like the Italian mafia with a more public profile.  I found that approach an interesting contrast to the way I had been conceptualising ISIS as an ideologically motivated political entity that supported itself with crime. This way it would be more a criminal enterprise that markets itself as a religious state because that works for it. One can then see how it could be used for money making and money laundering by god knows what private individuals and other governments. It also obviously soaks up unemployed or dissatisfied psychopaths, then gets them to explode themselves before they become dissatisfied with the employment conditions.
I was interested to hear that the ISIS members who self-destructed in Paris whilst the police were trying to extract them were living in circumstances surrounded by drug paraphernalia.  From the perspective of a some time drug counselor, I have felt from the beginning that such widespread gruesome violence (as opposed to that enjoyed by rare psychopaths) carries the hallmarks of methamphetamine use - ICE notably.  You can quickly foster delusions (righteous wars; women as objects of abuse; paradise after suicide) and make addicts utterly careless with ICE.  That would explain how people could be sucked in by ridiculous promises of resort-style living and also how they might blow themselves up fearlessly, on a whim or under pressure, and how they would do anything to continue drug use, or prefer to self-destruct with ICE on board as opposed to being executed without any.

Looking ahead to the general election, Clinton takes hawkish stance on Syria

NEW YORK — Hillary Clinton laid out a broad agenda Thursday for confronting the Islamic State terrorist network — and sent a larger signal that she intends to be a more aggressive commander in chief than President Obama, under whom she served as secretary of state.
The front-runner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination also portrayed the United States as the leader of a global fight to exterminate the Islamic State and other terrorist threats. She doubled down on her call for a no-fly zone to protect Syrian civilians.
Clinton’s prescriptions — which are hawkish and more specific than either her Democratic or Republican rivals have set out — could raise discomfort in liberal circles and among Americans made wary by the long wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Her comments suggested that she is looking past her primary opponent, Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.), and positioning herself for a general-election battle against whomever the Republican Party puts forward.
She also indicated that hers will be a different brand of leadership than that of Obama, who has been roundly criticized for declaring shortly before last week’s attacks in Paris that the Islamic State had been “contained.”
Clinton, in contrast, said the threat is an urgent one.
As secretary of state, she lost a policy struggle within the Obama administration about whether to intervene by arming and training Syrian rebels in 2011 and 2012, before the group also known by the acronyms ISIS and ISIL emerged as a potent threat.
“ISIS is demonstrating new ambition, reach and capabilities,” she said in a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations. “Our goal is not to deter or contain ISIS, but to defeat and destroy ISIS.”
“Time is of the essence,” Clinton added.
Recent history teaches that sending a large U.S. ground force “is just not the smart move,” she said, although she described a wider and deeper U.S. military commitment than Obama has yet to mount.
Her repeated calls for the United States to take the global lead marked a change in emphasis.
As recently as Saturday, during a Democratic presidential candidate debate in Des Moines, Clinton had said: “It cannot be an American fight. And I think what the president has consistently said — which I agree with — is that we will support those who take the fight to ISIS. . . . This cannot be an American fight, although American leadership is essential.”

All Quiet on the ISIS Front: Russian Air Force Destroys the Terrorist Group’s Media Center in Northern Aleppo

by Leith Fadel
“The Russian Air Force does not target ISIS!”
Oddly enough, this could not be any further from the truth; in fact, the Russian Air Force has done more damage to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) foundation than any other air force in the last three years.
Western publications that gather their information from Syrian Opposition activists often regurgitate the same hyperbolized news which attempts to propagate the idea that the Russian Air Force is non-existent in the fight against ISIS.

Syria is a War Russia Intends to Win

By Mike Whitney

Three questions about Paris:

1) Was the over-the-top, no-holds-barred, 24-7 media blitz really an attempt to keep the public informed about a critically important event or was the coverage geared to pressure President Obama into sending ground troops to Syria?

One dramatic impact of the Paris terror attack and the contradictions within the NATO camp and vis a vis the GCC-Turkish Camp, is that all of Putin's worst detractors are queuing up to meet him and seek his words of wisdom
The photos of Putin, Obama with their 2 advisors sitting around a table for just 4 has gone all across the world.
Cameron who was a anti-Putin Hawk was today getting himself photographed with Putin ensuring all cooperation.
Hollande will be dashing, or should I say - Da-eshing off :) :) off to Moscow and DC to iron out all details for future coordination ...
Even Erdogan is behaving himself ...

What Preceded The Islamic State Attacks In France - Some Links (Updated)

http://www.moonofalabama.org/2015/11/terror-attacks-in-france-some-related-links.html

This happened last night: At least 120 dead in Paris attacks, Hollande declares emergency
Gunmen and bombers attacked restaurants, a concert hall and a sports stadium at locations across Paris on Friday, killing at least 120 people in a deadly rampage that a shaken President Francois Hollande called an unprecedented terrorist attack.

Paris Attack: Analysing the political and strategic reasons for the 13/11 Paris Terror False Flag

Target Refugees and Heightened Direct NATO-Turkish-Saudi-GCC intervention in Syria and Iraq.

Around 1.50 pm (IST), a massive coordinated terror attack broke out across 7 different targets across Paris. Some of us have been up all night monitoring the media reports, sharing facts from across various media sources, as the information emerged, as well as the political comments that interspersed the reportage, and thus the underlying message

More than a 149 people are reported to have died into the Concert hall, where the people were taken as hostages and then murdered in cold-blood.

This has been followed by suicide terror attacks and the horrific bombings of the Russian Plane, and attacks in Beirut, Baghdad in the last 24 hours. It just points to the fact that the ISIS and other terror organizations are losing the war to the Syrian and Iraqi Armies, the Kurdish forces, Hezbollah, backed by Russia and Iran.

In the last few days, the Syrian Army has liberated the KUWEIRES AIRBASE in Aleppo from the clutches of the ISIS, thus striking a body blow to the terrorist organization and their Turkish-Saudi-Qatari-US-UK-French-Israeli-NATO-GCC backers, funders, weaponizers.

Once Aleppo falls to the Syrian Army, the ISIS will soon be driven out from all across Syria, as its entire supply routes via the Turkish borders will have come to a dead halt, or at best a trickle. Thus the Turkish-Saudi-Western cabal, had to take recourse to drastic measures and build their case for direct intervention, or then lose their strategic space to Russia.

There are thus many forces that have seen their entire plan to control the Middle-East, destroy Syria, bring about Regime Change, all shattered and defeated.

Thus, It is apparently clear that this False Flag Terror attack, will create:

1) A very strong anti-Refugee Climate across Europe and the West. France has declared an Emergency and has sealed its borders, which is unprecedented. France has also deployed its Air-Craft Carrier, the Charled De Gaulle to the Mediterranean. The CNN says that this terror attack will change France, as did the 9/11 change the USA.

2) The "solution" that will emerge is that the only way to stem the tide of the Refugees flowing in from Syria and Iraq (mainly Syria), is for the WEST-NATO for go into Direct Enhanced Intervention, More Aerial Attacks, Boots on the Ground.

3) The Turkish-Erdogan-Dovutoglu-Muslim Brotherhood plan is to create a SAFE-ZONE in Northern Syria, by NATO Declaring a NO FLY ZONE, wherein Turkish troops move into Northern Syria and create the space for the REFUGEES, thus resolving the CR-ISIS for EUROPE and the USA.

In fact the G20 Summit is to be held, interestingly and fortuitously so in Antalya, Turkey itself. (15-16 November, 2015)

These are the political and the strategic reasons that lie at the root of the horrendous terror attack.

In solidarity with the resistance

At least 60 dead in Paris shootings, hostages held: French mediaON NOVEMBER 13, 2015

France was rocked by multiple, near simultaneous attacks on entertainment sites around Paris on Friday evening and French media said at least 60 people were killed and hostages were being held in a concert hall in the capital.
The apparently coordinated gun and bomb attacks came as the country, a founder member of the U.S.-led coalition waging air strikes against Islamic State fighters in Syria and Iraq, was on high alert for terrorist attacks ahead of a global climate conference that opens later this month.
Western security sources said they suspected an Islamist militant group was behind the carnage.
At least two explosions were heard near the Stade de France national stadium where a France-Germany friendly soccer match was being played, attended by President Francois Hollande.
The match continued until the end but panic broke out in the crowd as rumors of the attack spread, and spectators were held in the stadium and assembled spontaneously on the pitch.
There were reports of possibly as many as four shootings in central Paris, one of which turned into a hostage taking at a popular rock music venue, witnesses said.
TF1 television said up to 35 people were dead near the soccer stadium, including two suspected suicide bombers in the attack in the neighborhood of Saint Denis, north of central Paris.
Police helicopters circled the stadium as Hollande was rushed back to the interior ministry to deal with the situation. The president’s office said he had called an emergency cabinet meeting for midnight (2300 GMT) to manage the crisis.
Police confirmed there had been shootings and explosions at the stadium, but not the number of casualties.
In central Paris, shooting erupted in mid-evening outside a Cambodian restaurant in the capital’s 10th district and the Bataclan music hall, where bystanders were evacuated as elite police commandos took up position.
Several witnesses told television stations that up to 60 hostages were being held inside the popular concert venue.
“There are lots of people here. I don’t know what’s happening, a sobbing witness who gave her name only as Anna told BFM TV outside the Bataclan hall. “It’s horrible. There’s a body over there. It’s horrible.”
Elsewhere, police cordoned off a wide area around the Petit Cambodge restaurant where witnesses said gunmen armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles had fired at diners through the plate-glass windows, causing multiple casualties.
“I was on my way to my sister’s when I heard shots being fired. Then I saw three people dead on the ground, I know they were dead because they were being wrapped up in plastic bags,” student Fabien Baron told Reuters.
There were also reports of shootings in rue de Charonne in the 11th district and at the central Les Halles shopping center.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the Paris attacks, which came within days of attacks claimed by Islamic State militants on a Shi’ite Muslim district of southern Beirut in Lebanon, and a Russian tourist aircraft which crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
Earlier on Friday, the United States and Britain said they had launched an attack in the Syrian town of Rakka on a British Islamic State militant known as “Jihadi John” but it was not certain whether he had been killed.

US-Turkey Invasion Derailed by Syrian Army Triumph at Kuweires

By Mike Whitney

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) achieved its greatest victory in the four year-long war on Tuesday when it recaptured the strategic Kuweires military airbase in North Syria. Hundreds of ISIS terrorists were killed in intense fighting while hundreds more were sent fleeing eastward towards Raqqa. The victory was announced just hours after Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said in an interview with CNN’s  Christiane Amanpour that Turkey would be willing  to invade Syria as long as Washington agreed to provide air support, create a safe zone along the Syrian-Turkish border, and remove Syrian President Bashar al Assad.

How the West backed ISIS in Syria’s war

READING radical alternative news and commentary about Western foreign policy often leads to intense self-doubt and to questions like “why isn’t anyone else talking about this?”, “am I reading this right?” and even “perhaps I am losing my mind?”

Two recent news reports about the US involvement in Syria have triggered these exact questions for me.
Last month a formerly classified August 2012 Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) report was published by the right-wing watchdog Judicial Watch.

In the heavily redacted document the DIA — the intelligence arm of the US Department of Defence — notes that “the Salafist, the Muslim Brotherhood, and AQI (al-Qaida in Iraq) are the major forces driving the insurgency in Syria.”

The next sentence in the report is this: “The West, Gulf countries and Turkey support the opposition, while Russia, China and Iran support the (Bashar al-Assad) regime.”

Later, the DIA makes another extraordinary statement: “There is the possibility of (the opposition) establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist Principality in Eastern Syria (…) and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime.”

Charles Lister, a visiting fellow at the Brookings Doha Centre and arguably the leading expert on the Syrian insurgency, provided the second jaw-dropping reading experience in May 2015. “The US-led operations room in southern Turkey, which co-ordinates the provision of lethal and non-lethal support to vetted opposition groups (…) specifically encouraged a closer co-operation with Islamists commanding frontline operations,” including with official al-Qaida branch Jabhat al-Nusra, Lister explained in Foreign Policy magazine.

So, to summarise, the West — the US and likely Britain too — was supporting Syria’s armed insurgency in 2012 in the full knowledge it was dominated by Salafists, the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaida in Iraq. Three years later the US is encouraging rebel groups to co-operate with al-Qaida’s branch in Syria.
What happened, you might well ask, to the epic generational struggle against al-Qaida and radical jihadists that we have been fighting since 2001 to save Western civilisation? A war and evil enemy, lest we forget, that has been repeatedly hyped up by a pliant media and supported by all the main political parties in the US and Britain.

Except for Seumas Milne in the Guardian, the mainstream media has ignored the extraordinary revelations of the DIA and Lister. The BBC has, as far as I’m aware, not mentioned either on any of its many news platforms.

Incredibly, the highly respected Middle East specialist Shadi Hamid describes the Obama administration as “opting to remain disengaged in Syria”.

In addition to this explosive new evidence of Western support for jihadists, the West’s key allies in the region have also been supporting the more extreme elements of the resistance to the Syrian government.

In August 2014 the Washington Post reported that before their blitz in Iraq, “Turkey rolled out the red carpet” to Islamic State, eager to aid any enemy of the Assad government. “Wounded jihadists from the Islamic State and the al-Nusra Front (…) were treated at Turkish hospitals,” the Post noted. “Most important, the Turks winked as (…) Turkish towns became way stations for moving foreign fighters and arms across the border.”

The Wall Street Journal carried a similar report in March this year, except this time it concerned Israel and how some of the al-Nusra Front’s “severely wounded fighters are regularly taken across the frontier fence to receive treatment in Israeli hospitals.”

Unsurprisingly, on this issue the Western media invariably report the official US government line that the US is opposed to these actions and is putting pressure on Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar to stop supporting jihadists in Syria.

However, a close reading of mainstream news reports suggests that far from being opposed, the US is deeply involved in these nefarious networks. For example, earlier this year the Wall Street Journal published a story with the headline Saudis Agree to Provide Syrian Rebels With Mobile Anti-aircraft Missiles.

According to the report, “rebel leaders say they met with US and Saudi intelligence agents, among others, in Jordan on Jan. 30 (...) That is when wealthy Gulf States offered the more sophisticated weapons (anti-aircraft missiles).”

Writing about increased co-ordinated support to the Syrian rebels provided by Saudi Arabia and Turkey, the Guardian’s Martin Chulov recently noted the Saudi king told allies “the US would not stand in the way.”

And in June 2013 the Los Angeles Times noted that arms shipments from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries to Syrian rebels were “provided with assent from the US.”

Public denials at odds with covert actions are, of course, meat and potatoes when it comes to outsourcing foreign policy to regional proxies. “We’ll continue saying the bombs are ours, not yours,” the US-supported Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh told US General David Petraeus in January 2010 about US drone strikes in his country.

According to the Washington Post, a similar deception has long been in effect between the US and Pakistan, with the Pakistani government publicly condemning US drone strikes, while at the same time secretly co-operating with the US.

And of course, if the US really felt as its Middle East allies as they publicly claim to, a simple way to pressure them to stop supporting jihadis in Syria would be for the US to threaten to stop selling its allies arms.

In reality, the US continues to arm countries such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia despite — or perhaps because of — their support for the Syrian insurgency. In March 2015 the Stockholm Peace Research Institute noted that the Gulf Co-operation Council states and Turkey are “scheduled to receive further large order of major arms in the coming years” — mainly from the US and Europe.

It’s certainly possible I’m not reading the evidence correctly. I may be taking it out of context. There may well be good reasons why the media has chosen not to cover the story, and I could well have lost my mind. But what if the reports point to a far more frightening conclusion — that it is the Western media and political elite is mad and delusional?
